According to Konami, the legendary horror experience of PT won’t be available to play on PS5 through backwards compatibility. Konami confirmed this to GamesRadar, stating that, due to PT not being on the PlayStation Store, players will not be able to use the new console’s backwards compatibility feature to download it.
This news may serve to further cement PT’s almost mythical status as a rare and incredible horror game. Originally available in August 2014, the game is a “playable teaser” (hence the name) for the unreleased Silent Hills game. The game was removed from the PlayStation Store in 2015, and has not been available to re-download since, making consoles with the game on them highly valuable. Many fans were hoping to be able to transfer the game to PS5.
Often cited as one of the greatest horror games of all time, despite its short run time, PT has gone on to influence a number of games, including titles like Resident Evil VII. However, PS4 remains the only way to experience Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro’s masterpiece.
