The 25-year anniversary of Pokémon is soon and in the spirit of celebration and hype of my favorite franchise, I wanna talk about some things I hope for in Sinnoh remakes. A Pokémon Presents stream is scheduled on the Pokémon YouTube channel for 7 AM PDT on Saturday. A day before Pokémon Day in the mentioned time zone, but the very beginning of Pokémon Day for Japan.
I hope to see a return of Megas for the Switch remake of Diamond and Pearl. While the way ORAS was handled after XY, it seems more likely there’d be some excuse to bring Dynamax and GMax Pokémon to Sinnoh, but I hope this isn’t the case. Megas are a great way of feeling like you’re using a Pokémon to the absolute best of its abilities. There are plenty of Pokémon that deserve to see their full potential through this burst of power. With there being just under 900 Pokémon and only 46 species that can mega evolve I think Game Freak owes it to the homie Luxray.
Don’t Make The Distortion World Paid DLC
Going from Diamond and Pearl to the crazy cool Distortion World where you battle and catch Giratina was crazy for a third version. I hope the Distortion World makes an expanded comeback in the Sinnoh remakes in the ORAS delta episode fashion. I also hope without having to buy it separately like sword and shield expansions. I don’t entirely hate the idea of the DLCs, but save it for Shaymin, Cresselia, and Darkrai islands.
Primal Reversions For The Rulers Of Space And Time
If you think the gods of space and time deserve the same stat total as a slaking, you’re as crazy as Game Freak. It is my very strong opinion that these space and time rulers deserve better. Give them the Kyogre and Groudon treatments like Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness/Time did for Dialga. They both deserve it in the mainline games.
Give Regigigas His Moment
For 14 years, Regigigas has squandered in PC boxes with his truly repugnant and ugly ability Slow Start. This awful ability forces Regigigas’ attack and speed stats are halved. The way I see it, Regigigas is like a hidden 4th box art legend, this guy literally towed the continents and was so proud he made smaller versions of himself. Game Freak has done him so dirty and it’s time for them to let this colossal being wake up and give him an ability and signature attack truly worthy of his reputation. Possibly even a primal reversion?
The remakes are coming, they have to. When they are announced I hope to see at least a trace of some of these ideas, but whether they do any of this or not, Sinnoh is going to be fun to explore again all this time later. I have a feeling it’s a great time to be a Pokémon fan.
