Nintendo just recently announced the next Smash Bros. characters and of all the characters they could’ve picked from, they joined forces with Microsoft to bring in a slew of Minecraft characters. Well, it turns out talks started quite a while back. According to Mojang co-founder, Daniel Kaplan, on Twitter, it seems it started a whopping five years ago.

3 is not enough. At least five

Don’t get this mixed up, though, this timeframe only encompassed the talks and not the development itself. Kaplan even noted himself that he doesn’t quite know when the implementation began.

That’s when talks started at least. No idea when implementation started 🙂

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s next fighting pass will not only include the four figures from Minecraft, but we’ll have to wait for more as four more fighters have yet to be revealed.
