If you were hyped for Chivalry 2, well, we’ve got some bad news. No, the game isn’t canned, it just isn’t going to meet the deadline they initially set. Originally slated to launch later this year, Torn Banner Studios announced that they won’t make the initial goal. As cited on their blog, they feel it’s a necessary change to make it the best it can be and to their vision.
Much to the same effect as many developers bleeding their games into 2021, Torn Banner has placed the blame partially on working-from-home and COVID-19. This does alter what was originally going to be its summer beta, which is moving to an undisclosed date.
It isn’t all bad news, though, while the game is delayed, they will be adding in content that was initially meant as post-release material into the base game. New content will include maps and game features will be available at launch. Horses, on the other hand, will keep its place as post-launch content.
Torn Banner hasn’t given a new specific release date for Chivalry 2, but has confirmed it’ll launch to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC (via the Epic Games Store) at the same time.
